Why Create Reels?
If you have a business and you’re on Instagram, then it’s time to jump on the REEL bandwagon.
REELS are a trending Instagram feature that is very similar to Tik Tok where you can upload a 15-30 second video that’s fun, entertaining, motivational, educational, inspirational...you name it.
These short videos can not only improve your engagement but will also completely step up your social media presence - and here’s why...
It’s A Creative Outlet
A lot of us business owners are really creative, would you agree? When I started making my REELS I found that it was a great way for me to be creative. I loved brainstorming new ideas, finding new songs, remixing other people’s ideas and experimenting. I ended up looking forward to filming and posting more than I thought I would.
So if you're a creative person too, and you're thinking about what to make your next post about - make a REEL! It’s definitely a great outlet for creativity - and if you're not a creative person, that's ok too! They don’t have to be complicated, simple and straight forward is always a great way to go.
More Reach And Engagement
It’s that simple - you are going to get more reach and engagement when posting Reels. Think about it - Instagram is competing with Tik Tok. They want users to use this feature so as a reward for posting, they are going to show it to a lot more people!
FYI: That’s called your Reach - how many people see your posts.
For example. I have about 1800 followers and my reach on a static post (image and caption) is anywhere from 400 to 600 on a good day.
My reach with a 15 second REEL that would have the same content and message is 3 to 4 times the amount! I’m talking 2000+ views on one video!
That’s why the effort to make these videos is worth it, because the more people that see it, the more opportunities there are for your followers to engage - which will help your business if you're looking to grow.
Build A Stronger Know/Like/Trust Factor
Video is a great way to build connection, simply because viewers are seeing the human on the other side of the screen.
You need your followers to know there is a human running the show, so you’d want to actually be in your REELS. Now, you don’t need to be the star of the show every single time, but as much as possible, but the more you show up in your REELS the better because you want your true personality to come out. You want to show your genuine and authentic self because it will help your business in a good way - by becoming relatable, by humanizing your profile and content.
Addictive To Watch
Let’s face it, quick content in video form is addictive. Even when people are starting out and their Reels aren't that great, there are some that are pretty entertaining, inspiring and educating that I still tend to get a little lost in.
Which is a good thing and why we should want to be a part of it - because if people are consuming Reels and getting addicted to it, we want our Reels to be in there too, right?
